About
I’m Ryan — a staff engineer. I’m drawn to the messy boundary where software meets reality: systems, tradeoffs, and the human behaviors that quietly determine whether the technical stuff works.
In my day job I’m focused on infrastructure programmability and automation. Outside of that, I write about engineering leadership, developer productivity systems, and the builder’s psychology — the “soft” skills that are usually just unpriced technical risk.
This site is a writing hub. If you want the guided tour, start with Start here. If you want the unpolished version of my brain, Notes is where things go to ferment.
What I optimize for
- Leverage (outcomes over activity)
- Clarity (models, constraints, and definitions of done)
- Craft (quality without martyrdom)
TODO: Add 2–3 lines about your specific staff-level focus areas (keep it high-level / non-proprietary).
